And then - a Day as huge
As Yesterdays in pairs,
Unrolled its horror in my face -
Until it blocked my eyes

(Emily Dickinson, Selected Poems)

This miniscule poem is merely a modified proverb, however it is not commonly written. "Unrolled it's horror in my face until it blocked my eyes" is truth, however horror, being an inanimate object can not unroll. This is simply speaking of fear that has blinded the poet, so it is a modified truth. This term is not easy to understand.
