Pun:

a play on words.

This poem is quite humorous due to the fact that this man is talking of eating poetry and describing it as though he was eating a grease filled burger from Macdonalds. However, if you look into the words the poem does contain a much more profound meaning than food. We need to eat to stay alive so it seems as though he is describing how poetry is his life as food is ours.

Ink runs from the corners of my mouth.
There is no happiness like mine.
I have been eating poetry.

The librarian does not believe what she sees.
Her eyes are sad
and she walks with her hands in her dress.

The poems are gone.
The light is dim.
